Mrs Martin
Computing Subject Leader
At St Herbertβs RC Primary School, we believe that computing and technology is at the heart of everything we do. Our computing curriculum enables children to use computational thinking and creativity to understand our ever-changing world. We encourage them to find, explore, analyse, modify, exchange and present information and become confident, innovative and independent learners.
Through the three main areas of our computing curriculum: computer science, digital literacy and information technology, children will learn, practice and embed lifelong skills that will equip them for their journey when they leave school.
Through our approach to computing, we aim to:
Provide a relevant, challenging and enjoyable computing curriculum.
Meet the requirements of the National Curriculum programme of study for computing.
Enhance learning throughout the curriculum.
Respond to new developments in technology.
Ensure pupils become digitally literate, being able to use and express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology.
Equip pupils with the confidence and capability to use technology throughout their lives, at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.
Develop pupilsβ understanding of how to use technology safely and responsibly.
Engage all pupils, including pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
